Requirements

Requirements for the Master Program Democracy Studies

  • certificate of qualification;

which is provied by a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Political Science or a related dscipline with a final grade of at least B (2,5).

  • proof of course specific qualification;

Applicants that have no Bachelor in Political Science: proof of attendance of 3 political science courses (e.g., "transcript of records")

  • German and English language skills

Candidates have to verify English speeking skills (provided by school diploma).

Foreign candidates need to prove a German level of B2 or higher. Further information can be found hereFor those, whose German is below the level of B2, you need to prove a German level of A2. The Department of German as a Foreign Language offers for applicants with a German level of A2 preparatory language courses. These courses are meant to prepare for degree studies and the DSH exam. You need to pay a course fee every semester. It depends on your level at application, how many semesters you need to do the preparatory course. Further information can be found here.


Deadlines

The deadlines for application for the Master Programe "Democracy Studies" for the summer term are the 15th of february and for the winter term 15th of july.

If no graduation certificate can be provided by the time of application, immatriculation will be granted temporarily under the condition that the graduation certificate can be provided by the candidate until the end of the first semester. In case no graduation certificate can be provided the candidate has to include a preliminar summary of all finished courses (incl. grades) provided by the examination office. At the time of application the candidate earned 150 ETCS.

The application has to include:

  • the application formular
  • proof of university entry degree,
  • Bachelor's degree or at least 150 ETCS of a Bachelor's Program
  • Applicants that have no Bachelor in Political Science: proof of attendance of 3 political science courses (e.g., "transcript of records")

The candidate will be informed about the admission in time.
