Tutor and Mentor Training | Project ‘STEM Tutors’ | Work Shadowing

How long have you been working here at the ZHW? What are some of the things you enjoy most about your work?
I’ve been working at the ZHW since April 2007. The thing that excites me most about my job is the insight that I get into the teaching style and methods of almost every single department or faculty at the University thanks to a variety of classes, conversations, and consultations.

What are some of your research interests?
I’m interested in anything related to teaching, particularly sustainable teaching and fostering and improving student motivation. Besides that, I’m also interested in tutor and mentor training and implementation.

What are three words your co-workers would use to describe you?
Communicative, sense of humor, empathetic

What are some of the things you like to do in your spare time and what do you like so much about them?
Music, both in an active and passive capacity: “Without music, life would be a mistake.” (F.W. Nietzsche)

If you could learn a new language overnight, which one would it be, and why?
Italian. It’s just such a melodic language, it’s like a window to an entire attitude toward life!

If there was one particular vice you have that you’d like to get rid of, what would it be?
Anything that crackles: let’s just say chocolate, cookies, etc.
