How long have you been working here at the Center? What do you enjoy most about your work?

I started working at the Center back in Q4 of 2021, mostly translating articles for Lehrblick, but also the occasional PowerPoint presentation. As of March 2022, I have become a full-fledged member of the team here at the Center as the in-house translator for the QUADIS project. It’s really inspiring to see how much passion and effort educators continuously put into their teaching. So, being part of a project that emphasizes the importance of educators and didactic teaching is really exciting.

What is the best concert/festival/event you have ever been to?

Going to concerts just so happens to be one of my favorite things to do, so there’s a whole bunch of incredible gigs to choose from. But I think the one that still stands out is seeing Paul McCartney live in Toronto when I was about 14 years old. Sitting up in the nosebleeds. My grandma and her friend dropping me off at the venue, and their looks of concern when I came out looking utterly dazed. It was surreal in the best possible way. Also worth mentioning: Ezra Furman at Festhalle Kreuzberg in Berlin, Oddisee at a small club in Oakland, and an open-air Janet Jackson concert in Concord.

Are you currently trying to master a new skill? If so, what is it?

I recently splurged on a pocket-size synthesizer that I’m still figuring out how to work. It’s probably one of the most straightforward synths you can get, but it’s also my first, so most of the time I have no idea what I’m doing. And hours upon hours of YouTube tutorials just don’t seem to cut it.

Is there a city/country you’re dying to visit?

For the food alone, I have to go with Japan and Mexico. Fingers crossed I finally make it there sometime in the near future!
